Andrzej, SP3IYM completed the testing of his 9el OWL 2M antenna this weekend with some excellent results being seen. Like many, Andrzej has become used to beams receiving signals from ALL directions, with the strongest signals coming from the direction in which it is pointing. However, the OWL has excellent rear and side signal supression so you hear signals only from the direction you want to! Additionally, Andrzej finished his antenna with the G0KSC coaxial transformer/Pawsey stub hybrid which provides both a balun and impedance transformation feature in one.

The SP3IYM 9el 2m OWL

Andrzej had this report on his new antenna:

'Today I checked antenna on other one and SWR is realy nice. Antena has wide horizontal angle, but is realy quiet ! On 10el DK7ZB (6m long) I had much bigger noise on the band...  I tested it today at 7m above the ground. I heard 4 beacons with nice signal (OZ7IGY/B 470km). Also F/B is good. I'm located 1km from SR3VHX beacon (5W into 7dBd) 144.481. but i haven't problems with reading OZ7IGY at 144.471 when back of antenna is pointing to vhx ;)

Bigger report and more photos will be after next weekend. I will be QRV in contest with 2x 9 el  on my contest place.'
