ZS5LA builds the first (known) LFA Plus2 Yagi

ZS5LA finished and installed his 10 element Plus2 LFA Yagi on Saturday 6th January 2009 making this the first confirmed LFA Plus2 built. However, not far behind him is John ZS6JON who has almost completed 2 of the same antennas which will be on-air early next week.

Rob, ZS5LA had these words to say via Email today:

'Hi Justin
Thanks for all the pomp and ceremony on the home page. It was a race to get the antenna finished on the Friday afternoon to take part in the local VHF/UHF competition organised by the Port Elizabeth Club of the SARL. Unfortunatly I did not get it quite tuned up in time so had to wait for the rain to abate on the Saturday (16th Jan 2010 by the way) to finally get the folded dipole adjusted. John ZS6JON was in contact all the time finding out how far I was with the construction. On Saturday evening on the second contact I worked ZS2GK with a total distance of 323km with good reports both ways.
It was a real pleasure to build this antenna and the hardware works extremely well. Its a bliss to assemble once the boom is drilled. Well done on a fantastic antenna and thanks for the opportunity for us to use your designs. No doubt a 70cm version will join this one.
Thanks to John ZS6JON who recommended I check out your site before starting out on a new antenna. The old DL6WU has now been retired for now.
Cheers for now and many thanks.

Regards

Rob ZS5LA

While this is the first confirmed Plus2 built, there are many more in various stages of completion with a certain 9A station building the 22 element Plus2!

Many new and exciting designs including the new 70cms range of LFAs are to be launched throughout February.

The above example outperforms most alternatives for Sky temp. and G/T and is one of 12 70cms variants that will be released from 18 to 30 elements. Stay tuned to G0KSC.co.uk and checkout is something fits your tower!
